The purpose of Northwest
Association of Corvette Clubs (NWACC) is to assist in organizing Corvette
Clubs in the Northwest; to help increase participation in those clubs; to
increase communication and cooperation among the member clubs; to improve
the Corvette image in the eyes of the general public; to further the
development and quality of the Corvette and improve the services available
to Corvette owners.
This is an “umbrella”
organization that assists all of the member Corvette clubs in the Northwest
in the attainment of their individual club goals. NWACC does not exist to
detract from the individual clubs throughout the Northwest but to enhance
and support those individual clubs. Each club that chooses to
belong to NWACC pays dues to the organization. The dues paid are used for a
variety of obligations on behalf of all participating clubs. One of the
more important responsibilities is the procurement of liability insurance by
NWACC on behalf of all member clubs. This is an Umbrella Liability
insurance policy only. It is secondary to a member’s individual car
(vehicle) insurance and/or any existing club liability insurance. Additionally, NWACC provides the opportunity to meet and compete for event and season trophies and socialize with Corvette enthusiasts from clubs in the Pacific Northwest, including those clubs and their members in Canada. These clubs represent a
wide and diverse membership with interests that range from static events
like Shine & Shows and Concours D’Elegance, to moving events such as
autocross and rally. NWACC offers the Corvette enthusiast opportunities to
participate in weekend get-a-ways in neighboring cities and
even other states.
These are events that are designed for getting to know members from other
clubs, having fun with your Corvette and socializing. Life long friendships
can begin at these events. Any person and
their Corvette,
qualifying under NWACC rules, may participate
in any event without consideration of
participation points if their desire is simply to
take part in the event. NWACC sanctioned events
usually include: Shine & Show;
this is a basic clean car competition for daily driver Corvettes. In Shine
& Show, the judges aren’t looking for “dust on your drive shaft”.
There are specific classes for your
Corvette and you compete within your class. Concours D’Elegance: This is an all out “make it beautiful” competition. This is for the serious competitive show enthusiast. As in Shine and Show, you compete against other Corvettes in the same class as your car. People’s Choice: This a show class for those people who do not wish to have their car formally judged. Clubs are not required to have a People’s Choice division at their event, A club is free to decide on the number and types of trophies and how they are awarded. Road Rally; A
driving event on public roads at or below posted speed limits where you
follow “clues” or odd directions to find various check points along the way
to the finish usually within a specified time period. These rallys are not
time-speed-distance events that require average speeds or specific times
between checkpoints. Autocross:
This is a single car race against a timing clock through a varying “highway traffic cone” closed course. Your
Corvette is classified
as either “Stock” or Prepared” based
on items such as the vehicle year, engine modifications, and other items.
All NWACC Autocross events have a “Novice” class. This is for people who have
never tried this type of event before but would like to try it before
competing against more experienced drivers. As an individual competitor, you can participate and compete for trophies at a given event, and through the accumulation of participation points from each event you attend, compete for a Seasonal Championship Award in your class. The more events you enter, the more points you get! These awards are presented at our “Year-End Banquet”, hosted by one of the member clubs during November of each year.
A Club Participation Award is
presented to an NWACC club for having the largest number of members who
enter the sanctioned events throughout the year. An Individual Participant
Award is awarded to the individual or couple who enters the greatest total
number of events and accumulate the
most participation points during the season.
Every NWACC member club has at least one representative that is either elected or appointed by their club. This person is the link between you, your club and NWACC. That person is also a member of the Competition Committee and represents you and your club at all NWACC meetings. If you have any questions about NWACC, just ask your club representative. The NWACC website ( www.nwacconline.com ) has printable organization documents such as the NWACC Constitution and By-Laws and the Competition Code. There are also event schedules, results of the sanctioned club events, and links to other Corvette clubs in the Northwest and even those world-wide. Your involvement and
participation in NWACC events helps to keep the organization strong and
gives you an opportunity to meet and have fun with other Corvette owners and
their clubs. |
