The NWACC Roster of member clubs and their representatives was sent out recently via e-mail.  Please check your club information and NWACC Rep information and provide updates to George if necessary.

Changes at Shelton Sanderson Field Autocross Site:

New daily rental fee of $375 which now also includes the on-site sani-cans.  Savings of about $120 from last year event rental costs.

A total of 12 autocross events by various organizations are scheduled for Shelton for 2010.  May have to expect & accept possible damage to track surface.  May not be able to setup on Fridays.  George to discuss with Shelton port personnel.

There will be no parking on the grass areas.  Rental paid is for use of the paved areas only.  Entrants and visitors will have to park on entry road or side courts.  Parking on the paved areas should accommodate all vehicles.  Vehicles can drop off tents, equipment, etc. on grass areas then move vehicle to a paved parking area.  George will discuss this change with Shelton port personnel also.

Some of the autocross equipment (cones & other equipment not subject to temperature or weather) will be stored in a small enclosed locked Cargo trailer located inside a secured storage area near Sanderson Field.  Estimated storage fee is $25.00 per month.  Motion was made to approve and seconded.  Storage proposal was approved by all NWACC representatives.

RCC will host lunch for the 1st Autocross on May 16th.  Looking for other NWACC member clubs to host the autocross lunches for the June, July & Sept autocrosses.  Club can set a reasonable price & keep any profit.

Volunteer(s) who are 16 years of age or older are needed to handle the gate entry and waiver signing at the Sanderson gate.  Star time of 7:00AM.  Compensation may be available for their time.  Contact George.

Roy & July Booth have volunteered to handle registration for the May event.  Volunteers are needed for the remaining Shelton NWACC events in June, July & Sept.  7:15AM to 9:00AM.  Contact George.

SFI has decertified certain products made by Impact Racing.  Lawsuit against them states Impact used counterfeit stamps & patches for certification.  Helmets are safe for use as long as the appropriate Snell Foundation minimum year rating is present.  This does not apply to 2009 & 2010 products. Decertification is applicable to 2008 and older Impact Racing products which are under investigation.

Permanent car numbers are available for frequent autocrossers.  George can provide a list of numbers already taken.

Any Corvette owner not a member of an NWACC club can join NWACC as a member at large for $25.00 annual fee and take part in events and compete for points

A status report on the RCC Proposal for annual tech inspections was provided by Randy Free of RCC. Fifteen( 15) Corvettes were tech inspected by RCC recently at a RCC Tech Day.   Inspection Stickers for 2010 were made to be applied to lower left side of windshield.  A smaller 2010 inspection sticker was also made to be applied to helmets on lower left side.  Completed inspection forms were turned over to George.

NWACC clubs may hold their own Tech Day if desired.  Clubs are encouraged to invite other area NWACC clubs to participate. Tech Day is limited to one day only.  The club NWACC Rep’s are required to be present at the Tech Day Inspection.  The tech inspections should be done by knowledgeable persons familiar with NWACC autocross tech inspection requirements.

Contact George Schwartz when a Club Tech Day Inspection is scheduled.  George will maintain custody of the inspection stickers and provide to the club NWACC rep when requested for the Tech Day.

CGCC has discussed with Dan Hagerty of Vetteworks Motorsports in Auburn about having a Tech Day at his shop.  Date to be established before 1st autocross and other area Corvette Clubs will be invited to attend.

Randy Free of RCC indicated wireless timing systems and bar code readers were checked out and are not reliable enough to justify the cost in proceeding with.

Randy Free identified that NWACC could consider the purchase of a set of timing equipment low voltage cables and backup start/finish timing lights in case of damage during an autocross.  Dave Kaiser indicated because the club (CGCC or RCC) rents the autocross equipment to NWACC it was the club who owns the equipment responsibility to provide the backup items if it felt it was necessary.

Insurance Committee Report (Dave Kaiser):

Dave Kaiser presented the Insurance committee report. The committee members are Dave Kaiser & Paul Cap from MHCC, Dennis Montgomery from CMCS, Alan Cohen from RCC and Mike Marum from CRC. The committee is pursuing other insurance carriers to insure that the K&K insurance that we currently carry is competitive.

All clubs furnished at the February meeting a breakdown of the events/activities that were anticipated in 2010 which may require insurance.  The number of activities/events provided by the various NWACC club surveys appeared to be excessively high.  Dave Kaiser requested all the clubs go back and revisit/redo the surveys and limit the list to those activities or events which the Club actually host or are directly involved in (such as planned and published club tours, club caravans, etc.   All clubs were also requested to provide an accurate club membership count as of 1 April 2010.

Dave discussed/provided a comparison of insurance fees for club members and various club activities/events for K&K Insurance versus American Specialty Insurance.  The activities included such things as Corvette shows, autocrosses, planned tours, caravans, parades, picnics, etc.  Dave discussed the individual club membership fees for the two insurance carriers.  An accurate number of membership units contained in each NWACC club are needed as part of the survey.   For insurance purposes, a membership unit could be a single member or a member & spouse.

One major difference between the two insurance carriers is that with K&K we pay for activities or events as they are identified as we proceed during the year whereas with American Specialty the activities or events identified for the year are paid for upfront at the start of the insurance year.

It was pointed out that the NWACC Insurance Protection is for the individual NWACC Clubs, the Club Officers and the Club Board Members and activities the club is engaged in should an insurance claim/issue against a club be taken.  All club individual members are expected to carry their own automotive insurance.  The goal is to keep the NWACC  insurance cost to the clubs at a minimum.

The insurance carrier question will be discussed in further detail at the June 13th meeting as more information becomes available from insurance carriers and all the club surveys have been returned and analyzed.  A decision needs to be made by 1st of Nov 2010 if a change in insurance carrier is to be made.  Information and proposals will be provided after the June 13th meeting to the individual clubs and club members to allow for approvals by the member clubs, before a change in carrier is made.

End of Year Banquet (Barbara Waller & Ann Cohen)

There was no End of Year Banquet report at this time.

The individual NWACC Club representatives were asked to provide information on their club’s main yearly events.

The National Corvette Museum representative and board member Len Tucker provided information on proposed NCM local activities and at the museum.  Len discussed a spring or fall 2012 two week caravan to the museum for NWACC club members, looking for NCM members in the NW who would be interested in NCM events in the NW, and the One Acre Club Campaign which would raise funds for the NCM purchase of 300 acres to build a track.

Rep’s from Rose City, Seattle Marque Club, Classical Glass, Olympia CeO and Columbia River discussed their yearly upcoming events.

The next NWACC meeting will be held on June 13th at the Kit Carson’s restaurant in Chehalis, Exit  56  off I-5 at 9:00 AM.  If you would like, please come early for coffee and/or breakfast.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:45 AM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chuck Hulka,  NWACC  Secretary pro-tem
