Meeting called to order at 9:07 AM.
The minutes of the 2/12/11 meeting
were approved as submitted.
Treasurer Report:
Len distributed the financial report for the period of 11/01/2010 to 4/10/2011. Current bank balance is $4836.70. Approved
Vice President Report:
·
The current contract with
the Port of Shelton for the rental of the Sanderson Field Inactive Runway
for 2011 dated 3/08/11 and signed by George has been received and should be
included with the NWACC Secretary’s records.
·
Discussion regarding
changing the current autocross rule of N minus 1 or 6 out of 7 events to N
minus 2 or 5 out of 7 events for championship points. Financial vs.
scheduling issues were gone over and eventually it was decided to leave the
rule as is. Rule may be readdressed at another time.
·
There is a new motorsports
park to be named Ridge Motorsports Park being proposed in Mason County and
presently up for approval and the permitting process in Mason County.
It will have a 2.5 mile road racing track, a drag strip, and an
autocross area within 60 acres and is about 2 miles away from our current
facility. More information at
Raceinmason.com or Racingmason.com.
·
Due to environmental
issues, there is to be NO PARKING of vehicles on the grass at Sanderson
Field. Competitors and
spectators may still sit and stand on the grass but vehicles and trailers
MUST be parked on the pavement only.
·
Once the event has
started, there are to be no vehicles beyond the grid.
·
Barbecues and generators
must be placed on wood platforms.
·
San-ti-cans will be
cleaned the evening before our events if there is an event the day before
since they may have heavy usage that day.
·
There is a clean-up day
for the track being proposed but unscheduled at this time. One problem is
that it can only be done during the week since the weekends always have
events.
·
The Port prefers that we
keep the entry gate secured during our events.
Randy said that a “runner” could be designated to provide entry and
this person could use his scooter.
·
There was discussion
regarding food concessions on site and it was suggested that car clubs or
service organizations could provide themselves with income by putting
something together.
·
Most clubs either have had
their tech sessions or have them scheduled. Car approval should be
communicated at the event.
·
George has a supply of
“kitty litter” in his trailer.
·
Permanent car numbers are
available.
·
Discussion regarding
additional event(s) at the end of the season if track time was available.
No decision.
Equipment Committee:
This was covered by Randy. All equipment for the upcoming season has been checked and is in good shape. There are extra cables and connectors and Tony and Chuck have the timing equipment checked out and ready for action. Copiers are ready for use.
Year End Banquet committee:
This was also covered by Randy. There has not been a decision made for a location and there have been no clubs which have stepped forward at this time. It was brought up that, since last year’s event was held in Portland, that perhaps this year’s event should be north. Seattle area or halfway between was suggested and should be explored.
Insurance Committee:
Dave gave to “shout-out” to CMCS for actually paying the insurance waiver fee for their “XXX Car Show and Burger Bash” early….. Dave mentioned that he has to pay the insurance premiums for the At Large members prior to the first autocross event of the year, even though these members may not have paid their yearly dues yet. This obviously places our treasury in jeopardy, since we really don’t know if these people will renew. No solution was proposed.
New Business:
Randy mentioned that, if you are looking for car numbers, Solotime is a good on-line source and most local sign shops can also supply you with what you need. He also mentioned that it is best to take your helmet with you while getting your time card, so that it can be checked for the proper date. Randy also wanted to remind representatives that they should always be “beating the brush” for new entrants for NWACC car shows and autocrosses.
Club Announcements:
1.

The 5-Star event is set for August 12-14 and registration is on-line.
Host hotel is the Emerald Queen and Griott’s Garage is the location for the
Show and Shine.
