Meeting called to order at 12:15 PM.  A quorum was established.

Secretary Report:  Previously submitted to the officers and member clubs were the board minutes of 11/6/10, and the minutes of the officer budget discussion of 12/19/10.  (No board action taken at this meeting so it was not considered formal minutes of the board.)  The minutes of 11/6/10 were approved as submitted.

Treasurer Report:

Len distributed the financial report for the period of 11/1/2010 to 2/12/11, dated 2/12/11.  The report also included the proposed NWACC budget for 11/1/2010 to 10/31/2011.  There was no dissent, but no formal action was taken on the budget, but in hindsight we should have either approved or rejected the financial report and budget.  We should include formal approval as an agenda item for the next board meeting.  Current bank balance is $5,428.16.

Vice Pres Report:

There are still 10 clubs represented in NWACC.

Rules Change Proposals from the November Meeting:  There were seven changes proposed.  Below is listed a short summary of the proposal and the overall vote on each item:

  1. Change in show and shine judging sheets and points.      Vote:  Yes

  2. Definition of NWACC Members for purposes of points (RCC) Vote:  Yes

  3. Definition of NWACC Members for purposes of points (NWACC). Vote:  Yes

  4. Require that clubs announce NWACC events by March 1 of each year.  Vote: Yes

  5. Annual tech inspection for autocross.  Vote:  Yes

  6. Definition of, and penalties for, unacceptable driving.  Vote: Yes

  7. Change name to Speed Event Policies and Procedures.  Vote: Yes

Autocross Committee Report:

  1. Shelton airport cost is increased to $400/day.  There are some minor contract changes that we are exploring.

  2. There are quite a few clubs/organizations now holding autocrosses at Shelton.  We hope to establish a day where we could do some general maintenance at the site, such as weed/grass cutting and torching.

  3. All clubs wanting to conduct an annual tech inspection should organize the inspection within their club, and possibly adjacent clubs prior to the first autocross on May 15.  George Schwartz will furnish stickers for the cars and helmets.  This year only helmets marked SA2000 or M2000 or later will be acceptable.  DOT only helmets are not acceptable.

Equipment Committee Report:

Both CGCC and RCC brought their timing equipment to the meeting.  CGCC’s equipment was updated this winter.  In the trial run, it appears that the equipment is 100% compatible.

Insurance Committee Report:

Clubs should anticipate at least 30 days advanced notice to obtain an insurance certificate for individual events.  All clubs will soon receive a copy of the actual NWACC overall insurance policy.  It is also anticipated that the policy will be posted on the web site, minus specific pricing information.

Competition Committee:

Autocross dates were distributed.  These dates are also on the web site.  This year there are 4 NWACC Show & Shine events and 7 Autocrosses.

Kevin Jewell reported that he had met with Steve O’Neill of the Viper Club.  Steve had participated in a couple of autocrosses with us in 2010.  The Viper club autocross effort is still in its infancy, but they have 3 dates reserved at Shelton for 2011.  The Club has 50-60 members, but last year had 7-11 competing at their autocrosses.  Steve wanted to know if NWACC and the Viper club could do some joint events, or could we each participate in the other’s scheduled events.  The NWACC discussion can be summarized as:

  1. In general we are not against participation by invited participants, as opposed to a general invitation to a large organization.

  2. 60 participants is too many, but about 50 works well for timing.

  3. NWACC participation last year was in the range of 35-42/event.  George Schwartz was going to check his records to confirm those numbers.

  4. If we had no more than about 7 Viper participants, it could be acceptable.

  5. The biggest concern is that we not get the participation so high that either we have to stay until 5 PM to finish, or that we have to limit runs.  Currently, we expect approximately 6 runs per event.

  6. It was agreed that Kevin should keep the dialog open with the Viper club.  In particular we would decide at our next meeting whether to invite the club to our May 15 opening event, which generally has lower attendance.

  7. The weekend of July 16-17 would be a natural to combine.  Viper Club has an event Saturday, July 16 and NWACC on Sunday, July 17.  Anyone who wanted to race the entire weekend could do so on two different courses.

Kevin also reported that he had an invitation from NWAA (www.nwauto.org) to join their autocross events.  They have Packwood rented for June 17-19, and Sept 16-18.  Each 3 day event has an entry fee of $80 and a max of 65 drivers.  All Corvettes are welcome.

Club Announcements:

  1. Glass Odyssey:  The Vettes for Veterans events are planned for June 4, and Aug 17.  They will insure that the veterans are not doubly committed on those days this year.  HB 1219 is currently in the transportation committee.  This bill would make it optional to request only one license plate.  There is a better chance of passage this year, since the budget numbers show an actual savings to the State and the State has a huge budget shortfall.  You are urged to contact your legislators.

  2. Classical Glass:  The 5-Star event is Aug 12-14.  Registration is one line.  Emerald Queen is the host hotel and the show and shine will be held at the near Griott’s Garage.

  3. R-Vettes:  Annual Lake Sammamish Father’s Day Picnic on June 19.  No cost to participate.

  4. Columbia River:  Bow Tie Bash, July 2-3.  Show and Shine on the 2nd, and autocross at 3-Rivers Mall on the 3rd.  Still finalizing if other than Corvettes will be invited to the autocross.

  5. Rose City:  The annual Classic is scheduled of July 29-Aug 1.  As is traditional, the event includes a show & shine, autocross and track day.    Rose City also announced a cruise event sponsored by Suburban Chevrolet on May 7.

Corvette Museum:  Caravan to the museum scheduled for Sept 12.  They are also hoping to have a special event for museum members only in the Northwest this year.

CdO:  Capital City Vette Fest show & shine scheduled for Sept 17 at Titus Will Chevrolet, at the Olympia Auto Mall.

BCCC:  Although BCCC is not a member and was not present, it was discussed that their Thunder in the Mountain event is planned for Aug 17 and does include an autocross as well as the car show at Whistler.  They have negotiated very favorable hotel rates.

Next meeting will be April 10, 2011 at 9:00 AM at Kit Carson Restaurant in Chehalis (Exit 76).  Everyone invited to join the group at 8 AM for breakfast.

Meeting adjourned at 1:30 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Kevin Jewell
