Minutes:

President, Ron Waller opened the meeting at 1:00 PM and welcomed all members.

Ron reported that minutes from the April 18, 2004 meeting had been distributed to board members via email.  Ron passed out hard copies to those who that wanted them.  There being no corrections, a motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the April 18th minutes as written.

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer’s report will be presented at the next meeting.

Old Business:

George Schwartz, reported that the Kumo B710 tire has had some problems with their survivability.  SCCA and a number of sanctioned organizations withdrew approval of that particular tire.  Kumo worked to produce a variant of that tire and resubmitted it to SCCA and other organizations for testing evaluation and it has been accepted.  The new tire is distinguishable from the old tire and says “polyester” in the tire material listing on the tire.  Kumo has replaced all of the old generation tires with these new tires so we should not run across them, however, be aware that the old tires continue to be banned.  George will talk with all tech people at upcoming events to make everyone aware.  It is not expected to be an issue.

SCCA now prohibits the use of a shoulder harness in any convertible or open car that does not have a roll bar.  The issue is that a 5 point harness holds a driver upright.  If the car flips, the driver has no way to scoot down.  This may not be an issue for us since we do not sanction high speed events.  This rule only covers open cars.  Coupes are excluded.  Please let George know if this is an issue that anyone wants to address during the end of the year rules change process.

Another thing that came up involves insurance.  The CDO uses SCCA as their insurance carrier for their all-City Rallye.   They sent two packages of release forms to be signed at events.  The first is the regular form that everyone signs as driver, guest, etc.  The second is a minor release form.  At events that are covered by insurance, all minors must have this release form signed by a parent or guardian.  NWACC has not done this previously.  This brings up the question of do we allow minors to participate as drivers, course workers or even me in the work area at an autocross event.   The SCCA requires that the release form be returned to them and is kept on file for 5 years.

A discussion was held on the issue – currently NWACC rules state that all drivers must have a driver’s license.  However, nothing is written regarding riders and course workers.  It was suggested that we request both forms from K&K and require all minors in attendance have the signature of their parents.  This does not mean we will authorize minors to drive or work in the events.

New Business:

Welcome to new NWACC member clubs Glass Odyssey Corvette Club of Silverdale, Washington and Mason County Corvette Club of Shelton.   Available links have been established with the NWACC web site.

A discussion was had of upcoming events.  Please refer to the website and each clubs individual site for details.

A discussion ensued regarding judging at upcoming events.  Ron went around the room asking for input from all clubs present.

The year-end banquet will be hosted by Corvettes D’ Olympia at the Olympia Ramada Inn on November 6, 2004.

There was a discussion in regard to NWACC officer nominations.  It was suggested that officer terms be split 2 & 2 (staggered so that there are always 2 experienced officers in place).

The next meeting will be held at the CGCC event, Saturday, August 21st at the Tacoma Mall food court.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM.

The secretary thanks Barbara Waller for taking notes in her absence.

Respectfully Submitted by,

Lona R. Hyatt, NWACC Secretary
